Started small.
Grew big?
Nope. On purpose.
DeutschCafé has been around for about ten years. Since Gerel took over in 2019, the school has grown step by step and is now a well-known address for German lessons in Freiburg.
What has never changed: we stay small on purpose. Small groups, short ways, a team that knows your name. Learning German with us feels more like a small family than a course factory.

Gerel supports our students with lots of experience, patience and a fine sense for what everyone needs. Her goal: everyone feels comfortable and still makes real progress.
Deputy head & organisation
Bileg
Bileg takes care of everything behind the scenes: courses, processes, new ideas like the app and the language café. So that learning German with us stays personal and easy.

Cosy on purpose instead of seminar-room grey. For learning, working and chatting.

Small room
Room for up to 8 people. Facing the courtyard, perfect for focused learning.
Coffee, chats, breaks
Kitchen
Coffee machine, kettle, fridge, microwave, stove. Coffee and tea are on us, you are welcome to bring your own food.

Large room
Room for up to 10 people. Facing the busy street. City life is always a little part of the lesson.
Right in the middle of Freiburg
We are in the historic old town, surrounded by cafés, restaurants and small shops. After class you are right in the middle of it.

School holidays
We take a break.
During the holidays the whole school is closed. No courses, no evening course, no language café.
